We all know that the winter beauty in New Zealand is well known. Travelers are drafted to the snow-covered mountains that give slope experiences worth a day and spent the frosty morning relaxing with coffee in hand with freshly dropped snow. Some might actually claim that in winter there wasn’t anything to compare with New Zealand.
But in the summer did you see NZ?
With temperatures reaching toasty 25 degrees in New Zealand, lambs flowing on the mountains, warm, enticing lakes to go swimming, beaches just a few kilograms away, innumerable adventures to have, and places to explore in warm summer months for any tourist from December to February.
Here we encourage you to visit some of the places in New Zealand during the high season:
- BAY OF ISLANDS
The stunning Bay of Islands is situated a few hours north of Auckland. Kayaking on pristine water, taking a nature tour, diving among the many boats and sea creatures – or, literally, relax! There are many things that you can choose from, making the Bay of Islands a perfect option during your summer vacation for the entire family.
- SCENIC HIKING
Even the toughest of walks on a dry surface is much easier, so walking in New Zealand is important in the summer. Take the wonderful alpine crossing Tongariro (it is considered to be one of the country’s top one-day walks!) Or Franz Josef’s glacier walks. The National Parks of Kahurangi and Nelson both exhibit some of the best scenery in NZ. Our summer tours are all included, so make sure you check it out!
- COOL OFF IN CRYSTAL-CLEAR WATERS
There’s a variety of wilderness places in New Zealand that you might never imagine. If you want to swim between trees, Kerosene Creek in Rotorua includes a famous hot spring, with the best waterfall and a swimming hole in Kerikeri! Then there are places such as Lake Taupo, where many wonderful spots like Bulli Point are located, for the more adventurous who like to sail from the rocks.

A bright day is the best way to take a 4WD adventure and settle down. Experienced drivers will share their environmental and historical awareness and appreciate the fun and scenery while sitting back. - ACTIVITIES FOR THE EXTREME
If you didn’t make anything insane, right, is it not a trip in New Zealand? Take the amazing view, as you bungee or leap over the Abel Tasman, or as you swim off the side of a mountain in Queenstown. It should be remembered that these things are not for the weak-hearted – there is no go-back while you’re there!

The NZ nightlife awaits you only to move out of your hotel room to discover late-night cafes, restaurants, and nightclubs in the cool summer weather. Auckland is one of the hotspots, where you will probably be able to party and eat the night away.
- WATER SPORTS
Summer is the best time to enjoy all of New Zealand’s water activities. Try fishing, white water rafting, or relax on a cruise in the wonderful Milford Sound, for a realistic experience. A jet boat tour is one of the most fun and must-do forms of sightseeing!
- CONNECTING WITH CULTURE
Connect the NZ roots by trying one of the many cultural experiences available, which is already part of many Real Kiwi tours. Watch a Haka and Maori concert at the back, or visit the authentic Tamaki Maori village of Rotorua, where Maori practices and lifestyle are well known. You’re more linked to the nation and society than ever before.
- BOTANICAL BEAUTIES
You can also enjoy some of the lovely blooms of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens if you’re planning to go in the late spring and early summer. This is the best place to stroll and picnic on a warmer day with beautiful color-coordinated displays, large trees, and vibrant lawns.
- AWARD-WINNING WINERIES
For anyone interested in experiencing the best wine degustation ever (and it is included in one of our summer tours), visiting the popular Marlborough wine region is a must. The landscape is also picturesque, so you can relax with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc in your hand lazily under the warm sun.
- Cruise Fiordland National Park
A primitive location, ethereal and brooding, with rock bands coming from small fiords, is the Fiordland National Park, the largest in New Zealand. Part of the World Heritage site of Te Wahipounamu, the park has wildlife that ranges from fur seals to crested ping-pongs of Fordland. Move by Milford Sound or Doubtful Sound to what sounds like the Planet at day, overnight, and multi-day cruises.
- Spot Wildlife on the South Island’s East Coast
The East Coast of the South Island is full of marine life, meaning there is a lot of things to see. Whale awakening off the coast of Kaikoura for gargantuan sperm whales (one of the few places they can be seen all year round). Experience swimming in Akaroa with mini-dolphins Hector’s (unique to New Zealand).
